6 Home Health Tips
As most of us venture into week three or four of self-isolating, it is important, now more than ever, to take care of ourselves! That is why we have done our best to put together six at home health tips, some industry related, some not, that are helping us get through this time of social distancing. We are in this together and we will make it through!
Don’t get us wrong, it is so important to stay informed and updated, especially with the current, ever-changing situation, but it is also no secret that today’s news cycle can really suck the joy out of a room. If you’re someone who is typically glued to the television waiting for the latest headlines, remember that it is ok to unplug for a moment, process your thoughts, and enjoy some peace.
Lately there has been some interesting back and forth between those who are choosing to use this time to be productive and those who are using this time to peacefully cope. While some of these discussions have gotten rather heated online, the truth is that there is no right or wrong answer. Sure, many of us have more time at home, which means more time to perfect the creative outlets that fulfill us and even try new ways of stretching our creative ability. But at the same time, the world is kind of a scary place right now, so it’s perfectly fine to focus on staying safe and taking advantage of extra time with family.
We know, it sounds so simple! But trust us, lists are a great way to get your thoughts, feelings, and goals out on paper. One of our favorite ways to use lists that also helps us see things in a different light, is to physically write down what we are thankful for. You can also use lists to jot down things you might feel uneasy about or things you are proud of yourself for. Maybe even make a list of your favorite flowers and share it with friends. Give it a try!
It is SO tempting to relax on the couch all day! Especially if you’re working from home, with your favorite shows on in the background, wrapped up in your favorite fluffy blanket, with all of your favorite snacks within reach. Sorry, we’re getting a little carried away here! Nevertheless, our bodies will thank us for raising up those heart rates and stretching our legs every now and again. Also, as artists, keeping our creative minds active helps us stay sane. Maybe it might be worth it to try something new creatively, whether it be drawing, painting or learning a new instrument.
We don’t know about you guys, but our junk food intake has gone through the roof! This is totally fine, but we can’t forget to throw in some nutrients every now again. While we’re not nutritionists by any means, we do know our bodies and minds feel great when we try to do our best to eat well.
Lastly, the support from the floral community has been an amazing thing to watch grow. Most of it has come about through constant sharing, honesty regarding struggles and emotions, as well as a shared passion for the industry. If you haven’t already, be sure to keep in touch with industry friends and family.
